The Quarterdeck's getting a new upper deck

The Quarterdeck is a well known and much loved landmark in Scituate Harbor... and she's getting a new upper deck, so to speak.

The Quarterdeck has been sold to a marina owner - so it's getting a spiffy new upgrade, long overdue structurally speaking. The second floor will be bigger, with dormers. No worries, those who are weeping for their memories - the shop's staying on the first floor!

I do have more photographs and will add a link to them here when I've had a chance to process them for the web, later this evening. :)

Edited to add: Additional photographs may be found on my Flickr stream...

  2. Unfortunately, the building was in dire need of repair - so better this than it gets demolished in a storm or torn down because it's too far gone. But so much has changed in the harbor it's a shame...

  3. It must be a challenge building something like this in the middle of the current series of winter storms.

  4. I think they're taking advantage of the current lull in storm systems - though, brother, is it ever cold down there on the waterfront!!
