As Thanksgiving approaches, our thoughts turn to nearby Plymouth, Massachusetts – or is that just a New England thing, that we give consideration to the Pilgrims? Certainly virtually all of the kids in this area make an elementary school field pilgrimage to Plimoth Plantation to see what they have been studying close up and personal, as it were. In any case, legend has it that this is where it all began:
And to this day, kids from all over the world approach the impressive columned monument and peer through the dark iron fencing down at this humble stone in the sand. There’s generally a moment of quiet before a small voice chimes in with disappointment – “Is that it?”
