A is for adventure

A is for adventure

My daughter recently had an opportunity to test out a new letterbox quest in the woods of the Ellis Estate. This “A” marked the spot for one of the clues, and was done so subtly that you’d never notice it without a good reason to do so.

I’ve mentioned our love of quests and letterboxing before – they open your eyes to small details as you make your way. The best ones teach you a little something without making the lesson heavy-handed – a bit of history, or geology to tuck into your metaphorical back pocket. Thanks to quests my daughter  can readily identify staghorn sumac, knows where a Nike missile facility and a steel mill once stood and understands why conservation efforts are important to the ecological health of our area.

We’re all of us a part of something bigger. We just don’t always see the strands that connect us to the larger world.
