"They are more beautiful if they are few."

There were small clumps of seaweed scattered along the beach at Humarock, like the trail a child leaves when coming into the house – here a shoe, there a jacket, here a lonely mitten – just dropped and forgotten along the tide line.

And a lonely starfish clung to this bit of seaweed, a tiny misplaced creature on a wide open expanse of sand.

“One cannot collect all the beautiful shells on the beach. One can collect only a few, and they are more beautiful if they are few.” ~ Anne Morrow Lindbergh

  1. Nice image, Ali.

  2. Beautiful. The boys and I are always looking for starfish because of the book “The Boy Who Caught I Star” We found one and then threw it back when we were leaving Minot. Gorgeous photo.

  3. Lovely image Ali, it’s always so good to walk along the beach after high tide.

  4. What a cutie pie that starfish is! Imagine how big it will be by summer. All our children grow up too quickly.
    thanks :)
